As this is the final day of 2024, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey this year has been. Through challenges and victories, one thing has remained constant: God’s faithfulness.
This year, The Cyber Deacon has been a space to bridge faith and technology—a place where the Gospel meets the ever-evolving world of cybersecurity. Together, we’ve explored how timeless principles like integrity, vigilance, and stewardship can guide us in navigating emerging threats, building resilience, and protecting what matters most.
Cybersecurity is not just about tools and technologies; it’s about people, purpose, and protection. As professionals, we are called to be watchmen, ensuring the gates are secure and the walls are fortified. But as believers, we know the ultimate foundation of security lies in trusting God to guide us as we steward the gifts He has given us.
Looking ahead to 2025, I encourage you to think about two things:
1️⃣ What are you holding onto that you need to let go of? Outdated practices? Fear of change? Remember 1 Samuel 16, when God told Samuel to stop mourning Saul and anoint David instead. Sometimes, God is calling us to let go of the old and step boldly into the new.
2️⃣ What can you double down on? Where have you seen success or growth? How can you do more of what adds value and aligns with your purpose?
As we turn the page to a new year, let’s commit to staying vigilant in our faith and our work, remembering that all we do should glorify God and serve others.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to another year of faith-driven cybersecurity and personal growth! See you in 2025, Lord willing!
